My name is Melissa Oster and I am a sophomore majoring in Elementary Education at the University of Arizona. I am from a suburb of Phoenix called Peoria. I was born and raised in Peoria, until I recently moved down to Tucson last August to go to the UofA. I am somewhat experienced with the Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. I had a few past internships that involved a lot of work using these programs. I would not classify myself as advanced, but somewhere in between a beginner and advanced when it comes to technology. During one of my internships at a management recruiting company in Scottsdale, I was able to use the video editing software on a Mac to edit short video clips for marketing related purposes. I mainly edited out unwanted material and basic things, which dealt with editing. I also used excel and power point a lot in another internship I had last summer at a Marketing Research firm in Cave Creek, Arizona. I mainly was responsible for organizing spreadsheets of data that was collected. I transformed the spreadsheet to a readable document, and transferred the information to a power point presentation that was presented to the clients of the company. Along with my experience at work with technology, I have little experience with using computer technology. I do have a Myspace and a Facebook, as well as email accounts, but I have no experience with posting a website, movies, blogs, or podcasts other than that.
I would like to learn more about using the Mac in this class. The only experience I have with a Mac is using the video editing software. I would like to learn more about the difference between a Mac and a PC, and the basic operations of a Mac.

So....you're pretty good with power point and excel eh? Thats cool! Sounds like it comes easier to you with all the practice. Well, i guess you would say that I am in the same boat....i want to learn more about websites, blogs, podcasts, as well as movies.
We will use the Mac during the two weeks. We can discuss the similarities and differences in class. Candace

It sounds like, to me anyways, that you have a lot of experience when it comes to those programs. Thats cool you have had all those internships already, pretty exciting. Its good hands on experience. The only thing that I know about spreadsheets is that my mom has to make them for her job! haha! Thats cool you have edited a movie before. I am glad we will be working together, its nice to work with someone who has had previous experience.
Congratulation with all of the internships, they will do wonders when it comes time to build a resume! It seems that we are the two with some experience using imovie, making the movie in class should be fun. I'm with you on learning the similarities with Mac's and PC's because i use a Mac, and don't know much about PC's
